Power seek Zesco disconnection

COACH Tenant Chilumba says Power Dynamos will end the losing jinx to Zesco United when they clash in Saturday’s Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Charity Shield semi-final.
Zesco beat Power three times last year and the teams have been drawn for battle in the annual tournament billed for Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
Chilumba said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday that Power are determined to end Zesco’s dominance.
“The team is ready for Zesco. We know it will be a tough match but the boys are ready for the match. Zesco dominated our meetings last year but things will change this time around,” a confident Chilumba said.
He said his target is reaching the final.
Zesco thumped Power 3-1 in the 2015 Charity Shield final at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe and went on to win 2-0 in a league match away and 3-0 in Ndola.
And Zesco coach George Lwandamina declined to predict the outcome of the match.
“We can’t cross the river before we get there. We can only cross when we are there. Sometime back Power used to beat us but now things have changed so it’s up to them to say whether it will be a grudge match or not,” Lwandamina said.
And Zanaco coach Mumamba Numba is upbeat the bankers will defeat Green Buffaloes in the other semi-final clash at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
“The team is ready even our new signings are doing very well. What we want is to reach the final of the competition so we are looking forward to the game,” Numba said.
Buffaloes chairman Andrew Siame has predicted a tough match.
“We are a military team and in military there is nothing like I am not ready. When commanded to do something you just have to do it, so our boys are ready for Zanaco,” Siame said.
