Zambia’s quest to curb gender-based violence (GBV) got a jolt yesterday with reports that a policeman and a security guard were separately involved in a defilement and attempted rape cases.
The policeman has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl in Mafinga district.
He allegedly asked the girl to clean his bedroom before he pounced on her.
Muchinga Province deputy commissioner of police James Masiye named the suspect as constable Mulongwe of Muyombwe police post.
Mr Masiye said the incident happened on Friday last week around 14:00 hours at constable Mulongwe’s house.
“The girl was coming from the market when constable Mulongwe called her and asked her to sweep his bedroom, which is within the police post,” he said.
Mr Masiye said the girl was issued with a medical report form…http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
