Police arrest 4 over mukula logs

POLICE in Mkushi have arrested four people for alleged possession of 70 logs of illegally harvested  mukula timber, Central Province commissioner of police Standwell Lungu has said.
Mr Lungu identified the suspects as Ernest Mambwe, 28, of Kapiri Mposhi, Peter Tembo, 35, of Garden township in Lusaka, Edward Zulu, 37, of Matero in Lusaka and Margaret Chanda, 36, of Lusaka’s Kalundu.
Mr Lungu said in an interview yesterday that police have also impounded a DAF truck and trailer which the suspects were allegedly using to ferry the timber.  The four were arrested in Mansasa around 01:00 hours on Sunday.
“All the suspects have been charged for unlawful possession of biological resources,” Mr Lungu said.
