Phiri back in court

MINISTER of General Education John Phiri has restored his petition in the Constitutional Court following his failure to file his nomination papers for the Lundazi Central parliamentary seat after allegedly arriving late at the nomination centre.
According to an affidavit in support of ex parte summons for restoration of the matter filed in the Constitutional Court, Dr Phiri contends that he was at the nomination centre from 15:00 hours to 22:00 hours but the returning officer refused to receive his papers.
He argued that the returning officer at Lundazi Central nomination centre refused to receive his nomination and that he was instructed by ECZ director Priscilla Isaac not to open the centre for him because he is a Cabinet minister.
