PF youths warned against demos

By STEVEN MVULA
THE Patriotic Front (PF) has warned youths in the ruling party not to stage demonstrations against senior members and elected officials because doing so is tantamount to indiscipline.
PF deputy secretary-general Bridget Atanga told journalists in Lusaka yesterday that the party leadership is disturbed that some youths are holding demonstrations against senior leaders like Southern Province minister Daniel Munkombwe.
“PF is a party of discipline and I wish to appeal to our youths to stop their demonstrations against elected officials,” Mrs Atanga said.
She said demonstration against leaders appointed by President Sata are tantamount to opposing the Head of State.
Ms Atanga said PF members should be united and brace themselves for the 2016 general elections.
“I wish to tell our youths that once they are arrested, it is their families that will suffer. It is their children, wives and brothers who will suffer,” Mrs Atanga said.
She said violence has no room in PF.
“I have heard about demonstrations against Mr Munkombwe and in Mandevu [constituency in Lusaka], I have heard about these frictions among constituency officials. This is indiscipline,” she said.
Mrs Atanga said any dispute should be addressed through the relevant channels of the party.
