Patoranking it is!


NIGERIAN reggae-dancehall singer and songwriter Patoranking has been confirmed as the artiste to headline this year’s Mosi Day of Thunder slated for May 25 in Livingstone.
The organisers, Zambian Breweries who announced the date for the annual music festival now in is third edition in March, made the announcement last Friday.
The lineup of local acts and activities is still yet to be released.
“We’re really excited to be putting together this truly thunderous event,” said Zambia Breweries head of marketing Sibajene Munkombwe.
“Mosi Day of Thunder attracts people from all walks of life, not just from Zambia but across the continent, all united in their love for great music, and great beer.
“The festival is about celebrating our music and culture but also celebrating the thunderous greatness within ourselves and the belief that if we come together, we can achieve anything.”
Patoranking also confirmed that he will be performing at the festival on Twitter.
He posted “yes” in response to a tweet by Siams Cent @ InocentSiams21who asked him, “@patoranking, are you really coming to Zambia this May for the Mosi Day of Thunder? #Cant_Wait #Issa_Dream_ Come_True!”
The Mosi Day of Thunder has become one of the highlights of the entertainment and social calendar in the last two years.
The inaugural show in 2016 was headlined by South African hip hop artiste Cassper Nyovest while Tanzanian bongo flava recording artiste and dancer Diamond Platnumz was the international guest artiste.
Zambian Breweries expanded the format of last year’s event to include the best of the country’s arts and culture, as well as arranging for ticket holders to get free access to the Mosi-oa-Tunya Falls.
Patoranking started his musical career doing underground collaborations with artistes such as XProject, Konga, Slam and Reggie Rockstone.
He signed a record deal with K-Solo’s Igberaga Records in 2010 and released “Up in D Club” under the outfit.
He became a protégé of Dem Mama Records after collaborating with Timaya on his song “Alubarika”. In February 2014, he signed a record deal with Foston Musik and released “Girlie O”, a single that put him in the limelight.
Among his most popular songs include “My Woman”, “Melanin” which features Kenya’s outfit Sauti Sol and has also collaborated with Zambia’s Roberto on a song called “Contolola”.
