Over $100m set aside for North university

GOVERNMENT has secured US$110 million for the construction of a university in Northern Province.

Northern Province Minister Brian Mundubile said in an interview yesterday that the university will be built in Chief Nkolemfumu’s area in Kasama.

Mr Mundubile said the institution will have all the faculties and will accommodate about 1,500 students.
“It will be a fully-fledged university. It will have all faculties and it is expected to accommodate about 1,500 students once the works are completed,” he said.
Mr Mundubile, however, said the university will focus more on training students in agriculture, tourism and sciences to boost development in the area.
