Opposition differ on Independence Day celebrations

THE United Party for National Development (UPND) says it will not attend official Independence Day celebrations on Monday claiming that its members could be harassed.
But most other opposition political parties say they will be part of official programmes lined up for Zambia’s 52nd Independence Anniversary.
Speaking in Lusaka on Thursday, spokesperson Charles Kakoma said the opposition party’s members were physically threatened at earlier gathering of this kind and would not want to suffer the same fate.READ MORE
