And a confident netball national team yesterday left for Kampala with coach Charles Zulu promising good results.
NSCZ acting general secretary Raphael Mulenga confirmed the development in an interview in Lusaka yesterday.
He wished the team good luck.
“As NSCZ, we are wishing the team good luck. We are hoping that they bring glory back home through winning the championship. We also want them to be amongst the teams that will qualify for the 2018 Commonwealth Games,” Mulenga said.
And NAZ president Gertrude Mukumi said they received US$4,500 from the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) to facilitate the trip.
Mukumi commended the NSCZ, NOCZ and National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) for coming to their aid.
The budget for the trip is K K275,000.
“We have received some contributions but still we have not met our budget. We have a deficit of K100,000 plus. Whatever the case, we have no choice but to send the team to Uganda,” Mukumi said.
Meanwhile, Zulu declared the team ready for the competition.
Zambia will face Botswana in the first match on Saturday.
The tournament ends on June 30.
