North-West farmers receive over 100,000 bags of urea

GOVERNMENT has distributed 119,940 bags of top dressing urea fertiliser to farmers in North-Western Province under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).
Provincial marketing development officer Dennis Munachusa said in an interview on Wednesday that 95 percent of urea fertiliser has been distributed across the Province.
Mr Munachusa said the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock has distributed the fertiliser to Solwezi, Chavuma, Kabompo, Mufumbwe, Zambezi and Ikelenge districts while Manyinga and Mwinilunga districts are yet to receive the consignment.
“The figures we had as of Friday last week, I can say we are at 95 percent with urea distribution because so far we received 119,940  50 kg bags out of the expected 125, 660  50kg,” he said.
Mr Munachusa assured the farmers in Manyinga and Mwinilunga districts that their consignment will be delivered before the close of this week.
He further disclosed that 6,130 10 kg pockets of maize seed was received and has since been distributed to all farmers in the region.
Mr Munachusa said the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock has also distributed Compound D fertiliser to farmers in the province.
