No Tenant, no problem for Forest

WITH head coach Tenant Chilumba rumoured to be on his way out, assistants Happy Sichikolo and Owen Kaposa took charge yesterday as Forest Rangers registered a vital victory over title challengers Power Dynamos.
Although the club is yet to issue a statement on Chilumba, club sources told Sports Mail that the former international has been sent on leave. “That is the reason why he is not on the bench today,” said the source at half-time.
But Forest chairman Charles Kapoma said Chilumba was still in charge of the team despite missing from the dugout yesterday.
“He is still our coach and I will find out why he was not on the bench today,” Kapoma said. While Chilumba’s future is unclear, the rumourmill has it that Nkana legend Beston Chambeshi, who resigned as head coach at National Division One side Kansanshi Dynamos, has been lined up as the next coach for the Ndola side. On the pitch, Forest did not show any signs of a side that has unresolved issues. Nigerian striker Quadri Kola’s thunderbolt almost gave Forest the lead in the first minute but he was unlucky to see it fly over the bar. But Forest broke the deadlock on 11 minutes in dramatic fashion through White Mwanambaba’s own goal. Enterprising Webster Muzaza’s hard and low cross ricocheted off Mwanambaba before rolling into the net past keeper Lawrence Mulenga. Power did all they could to get the equaliser but Cameroonian Cedric Djeugoue and compatriot Yvan Mballa held their own at the back for Forest. After going down, Power coach Perry Mutapa re-strategised, with Linos Makwaza Jnr rested for Reagan Mtonga. He also threw in Joshua Mutale, Luka Chamanga and Frederick Mulambia for Kondwani Chiboni, Spencer Sautu and Zachariah Chilongoshi respectively. However, it was Forest who scored on 83 minutes through Cameroonian Daily Echabe, who had replaced Thomas Chideu in the second half.
