No livestock at expo

FOLLOWING the outbreak of the foot and mouth disease (FMD) in Chibombo and Chisamba districts, exhibition of cattle and other livestock species will not be allowed at this year’s Agritech Expo.
And Zambeef Products Plc’s Kalundu dairy production unit in Chisamba district has been infected by FMD affecting daily milk output, which has fallen sharply.
In an interview on Monday, Zambia National Farmers’ Union (ZNFU) media and public relations manager Kakoma Kaleyi said all participants (including their vehicles) at the Expo, which is now Zambia’s premier agricultural business and exhibition event, will be subjected to screening before entering the main arena.
