No job loss, StanChart assures 400 workers

TRYNESS TEMBO, Lusaka
STANDARD Chartered Bank Zambia says none of the over 400 workers will be retrenched following the training of staff to suit the aggressive digital transformation.
The bank is merging the Lusaka Main and North-end branches while Chingola and Jacaranda on the Copperbelt, Lusaka’s Levy Mall, Kabulonga, and Manda Hill and Livingstone branches will be closed effective December 31, 2020.
Corporate affairs and brand and marketing manager Christine Matambo said the closing of branches is to enhance the bank’s digital and online capabilities.
“We have seen over 80 percent of our clients opt for digital channels which allow for self-service when performing transactions.
