THE incident involving the beating up of some Nkana supporters by their Kabwe Warriors counterparts is regrettable.Violence has no place in sport, especially our beautiful game, football.
However, Nkana supporters are known to be provocative and got the taste of their own medicine at Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe.
This does not in any way suggest that ‘an eye for an eye’ is tolerable in Zambia and I hope the Football Association of Zambia will mete out stiff punishment against the Warriors hooligans.
Warriors management should take disciplinary action against the perpetrators of the hooliganism and apologise publicly to Nkana.
Supporters, known as the 12th man, play a very useful role in football but fights such as the one that took place on Sunday in Kabwe has the potential to scare away not only other fans but potential sponsors, too.
