NKOLE MULAMBIA, Ndola
GOVERNMENT is in the next two weeks expected to launch construction works of the Ndola-Mufulira road, Minister of Housing
and Infrastructure Development Ronald Chitotela has hinted.
Mr Chitotela said in Ndola on Sunday that Government is determined and focused to ensure developmental projects are implemented in all sectors of the economy.
“I am not shy to announce that very soon, we are coming back to launch the Ndola-Mufulira road. [soon] we are coming to Mufulira.
“This is a clear demonstration of the importance that Government attaches to the modernisation of the Copperbelt Province,” he said.
Mr Chitotela also urged contractors to adhere to labour laws and construction standards as they carry out building works on infrastructure projects that Government has dotted across the country.
He said people deserve quality infrastructure that will stand the test of time.
There have been calls from residents to rehabilitate the Ndola-Mufulira road since it has vast economic benefits as it links Zambia with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The contract to build the 65km Ndola-Mufulira road has been awarded to Nyatsi Construction Limited.
