NCC takes action against firms using forged licences

STEVEN MVULA, Lusaka
THE National Council for Construction (NCC) has commenced legal action against some companies that have been found with forged registration certificates.
NCC public relations officer Chama Mwansa said in a statement yesterday that NCC is currently working with the police to investigate the scam.
NCC has since suspended the registration certificates of the affected companies to pave way for investigations.
She said a suspect by the name Levi Simuchimba has since been arrested for alleged connection with the forged certificates and is on police bond awaiting court appearance.
Ms Mwansa said Mr Simuchimba has allegedly been acting as an agent on behalf of contractors in the submission and collection of applications and certificates.
“NCC wishes to take this opportunity to encourage members of the public, in particular contractors to avoid using agents to submit their applications,” she said.
