NAZ picks provisional squad


NETBALL national team coach Pauline Nsombo has picked a 22-member provisional team for the 2015 World Netball Championship billed for Australia.
The event will be held from August 7-15 in Sydney.
Netball Association of Zambia (NAZ) general secretary, who released the names in Lusaka yesterday, said the team will commence preparations next week at National Sports Development Centre.
Ngoma said the team comprises both junior and senior players.
The players are Annie Mukamba, Ethel Pamba, Diana Banda, Tina Saikolo (Prisons), Clara Chipupu, Patricia Chileshe, Brenda Mwila (Medical), Beauty Nakazwe, Agness Chingambo (Buffaloes), Kalonde Mwila, Joyce Mwanza, Esther Nyirenda (Napsa).
Others include Precious Chope, Carol Moono, Naomi Changwe (LCC), Idah Mutepuka (Paramilitary), Margret Mutafeli (Red Arrows), Doreen Kasehela, Esther Nyirenda, Petronella Chisanga (Nkwazi), Dorcas Musole and Mirriam Milambo (Eagles).
Ngoma said the Nsombo-led technical bench has already submitted the team for the tournament.
Zambia has been drawn in Group D at the world championship with Uganda, Fiji and Wales.
The other teams that have qualified for the world event are New Zealand, England, Jamaica, Malawi, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Samoa, Scotland, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Singapore and hosts Australia.
