National School of Government approved

CABINET has approved, in principle, the introduction of the National School of Government Bill of 2020 to improve performance of public service workers.
The Bill provides an institutional framework to operationalise the school, which is meant to build capacity among civil servants through learning and training programmes.
Chief Government spokesperson Dora Siliya said in a statement yesterday that the programmes also include competencies required for an efficient and high-performing public service.
Ms Siliya, who is Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services, said the Bill was approved yesterday during the 22nd virtual Cabinet meeting chaired by President Edgar Lungu.
“Currently, there is no specific law to guide operations of the National School of Government. Therefore, the new legislation seeks to introduce legal and institutional frameworks under which the National School of Government will operate,” she said.
