GOVERNMENT has released K439,000 for the rehabilitation of 113 kilometres Musaila-Kasaba road in Chifunabuli constituency in Samfya district in
The works, which are being undertaken by BSBK Limited, are expected to be completed before the end of this year.
Luapula Province permanent secretary Buleti Nsemukila says the tarring of the Musaila-Kasaba road will help in attracting investments in the area that will in turn create jobs for the local people.
Dr Nsemukila said Chifunabuli constituency is ranked second in terms of poverty in the country, a situation he attributed to the inaccessibility of the area due to poor road network.
He was speaking on Saturday when he toured the road in Samfya district.
“The tarring of the Musaila- Kasaba road at a cost of K439,062 is key, as it will pave way for many feeder roads to be opened up in the constituency, thereby bringing development to the area,” he said.
And BSBK Limited project manager Siraj Basu assured Dr Nsemukila that the company will speed up works to ensure the project is completed by the end of this year.
Meanwhile,Luapula Province Road Development Agency regional manager Guston Meleki said with funding now available, the project will be accelerated to ensure it serves its purpose of lessening the challenges people in the area face.
