More funding vital to fisheries, says IAPRI

INDABA Agricultural Policy Research Institute (IAPRI) has called on Government to consider allocating more money in the department of fisheries to improve operations and enhance the output of small-scale farmers in the aquaculture sector.
Aquaculture has taken centre stage in the country’s development agenda and is recognised as a means to promote youth employment and improve rural smallholder household income.
In its latest quarterly bulletin, IAPRI says small-scale fish farmers have continued to face a number of constraints as they remain largely dependent on Government and international development programmes.
