Mobile money booths should provide clients with proof of transaction

Dear editor,
PLEASE allow me to use your paper to congratulate all mobile money service operators for the good job they are doing to make sending or receiving money so easy.
They (mobile money operators) have booths literally littered all over.
Apart from that, they also remain open every day and for longer hours than commercial banks.
Needless to say, they are also providing employment to young men and women who, I believe, are even contributing to economic growth through paying taxes to the national treasury and all relevant levies to local councils.
The foregoing being the case, it is very important that all mobile money operators (Airtel, MTN, Zamtel and Zoona) should introduce equipment similar to those used by Zanaco Express agents to print out money deposit or withdrawal slips as the case may be, so that people using these services have proof of transaction(s) done.
Once this is done, those who send text messages with intent to defraud members of the public will find it difficult to continue their dirty games because a person sending or drawing money will be required to provide details of his or her transactions just as is done in the formal banks.
Without doubt, mobile money transacting has proved very convenient. It has helped decongest banks and enhanced the ease of doing business in Zambia. Keep it up, but please heed this observation made in good faith.
