Minister tips cardiac patients

CECILIA ZULU, Lusaka
MINISTER of Youth, Sport and Child Development Vincent Mwale has implored cardiac patients to emulate runner Akende Sianga who is using sport to keep fit.
Speaking at his office in Lusaka yesterday when he received a medal presented by Sianga, Mwale said there is need for people with heart conditions to come out in the open and contribute to the development of sport.
Sianga was awarded with a medal after running a marathon race of 16.5km in 1:08 hours during the Medtronic Global Heroes Programme in the United States of America.
And Sianga commended Government for the support rendered to him during the time he underwent an open-heart surgery in India.
Sianga, who was diagnosed in 1995, pledged to continue using ‘The fight has began till you defeat heart disease’ slogan to sensitise people about the disease and to get involved in sports.
