WANDERERS 2 ASSEMBLY 1
TEN-MAN ‘Mighty’ Mufulira Wanderers yesterday moved to second position on the MTN Super Division after edging National Assembly at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira.
Aaron Sakala fired Assembly into the lead in the 13th minute but defender Charles Shamujompa equalised for the ‘Parliamentarians’ on 50 minutes through a penalty that was awarded by Kitwe referee Gladys Lengwe.
Moses Nyambe netted a winner on 80 minutes in a match the Mufulira outfit played with one man down for over 10 minutes after Erick Chibuye was sent off for a second bookable offence.
The win has pushed Wanderers to six points, one behind leaders Green Eagles, while Assembly have one point.
RANGERS 1 ZANACO 1
Nchanga Rangers squandered their lead when they allowed Zanaco to come from behind to force a draw at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola.
Rangers scored through Fashion Sakala while Nawa Nawa was on target for the bankers.
NKANA 1 NKWAZI 2
Coach Beston Chambeshi needed police protection as Nkana suffered a second successive home defeat to Nkwazi at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
Striker Felix Nyaende put Nkana ahead in the 20th minute with a powerful shot that hit the crossbar before rolling into the net after an interchange of passes with Claude Bwalya and Joseph Sitali.
Defender Given Sinyangwe gifted the visitors an equaliser when he scored an own-goal in the 45th minute after attempting to clear Kasongo Mwepya’s cross.
Mwepya grabbed the winner in the 49th minute from a rebound after Noah Nyirenda’s shot was spilled by Nkana keeper Scott Ngokene.
The shock defeat left Nkana fans calling for coach Beston Chambeshi’s blood. He was whisked out of the stadium by the police immediately after the match.
