Men at Work, Spoilers abandon match

UGLY scenes on Saturday caused the abandonment of the National Rugby League in Kitwe between rivals Diggers and Kitwe Playing Fields (KPF) with Men at Work leading 15-12. The encounter turned bloody after players from either side traded punches, forcing the game to be abandoned barely five minutes into the second half. Hell broke loose after KPF’s Benaya Mukwamba was fouled by Adele Katinta, who retaliated by pushing the former Diggers player against the perimeter billboard. But the veteran rugger retaliated with a series of punches. From there onwards, confusion ensued as more fights took centre stage as referee Ben Phiri watched helplessly. The kerfuffle lasted close to 10 minutes as substitutes and other members of the technical bench joined in trying to separate those involved.
