MULWANDA LUPIYA, Ndola
STRIKER Idris Mbombo has apologised to Zesco United fans for his conduct during Wednesday’s Super Division rescheduled Week Nine match against Real
Mbombo raised his middle finger towards the fans after scoring as a way of silencing them.
Zesco won 1-0 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Before finding the net, fans booed Mbombo for missing two scoring opportunities.
Mbombo in an apology posted on the club Facebook page said his behaviour was inappropriate, immature and lacked respect.
“I am sorry for my actions and I hope we can put this matter behind us. I look forward to working with you [fans] again because without you, no matter how good I can be as a soccer player I am nothing,” the statement read in part.
Mbombo said fans deserve respect and regrets his action.
On Thursday, Zesco announced they will reprimand Mbombo.
