Masebo pleads not guilty

FORMER Minister of Tourism and Arts Sylvia Masebo has pleaded not guilty to two charges of abuse of authority of office.
Mrs Masebo denied the charges when she gave plea in the Lusaka Magistrate’s Court before resident Magistrate Ireen Wishimanga.
It is alleged that Mrs Masebo, 52, abused the authority of office by cancelling the procurement of a tender process of the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) hunting concession without following laid down procedures.
In the second count, Mrs Masebo allegedly terminated the contracts of employment of some senior ZAWA officers without following disciplinary procedures.
Mrs Masebo is also PF Chongwe member of Parliament.
Magistrate Wishimanga has set August 20, September 14, 15 and 18, 2015 as trial dates.
Mrs Masebo was arrested on June 23 by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
