Man detained over wife’s murder

POLICE in Lundazi have detained a man in connection with the murder of his wife, Eastern Province commissioner of police Grace Chipalila has said.
Ms Chipalila told journalists yesterday that Jessy Manzi went missing on Saturday around 17:00 hours and was found dead in a nearby bush on Sunday around 10:00 hours.
The body had bruises and the head was swollen.
“Ms Manzi was found dead on Sunday with bruises on the neck and head,” Ms Chipalila said.
Police have detained Ms Manzi’s husband identified as Emmanuel Nyirongo.
Ms Chipalila said Mr Nyirongo was detained after Boston Manzi, the father of the deceased, reported the matter to the police.
And a 13-year-old girl of Lundazi died on the spot after falling off a truck when the driver applied emergency brakes.
Ms Chipalila said the girl fell to her death after Anderson Mbewe, 40, who was driving a Fuso truck, applied emergency brakes.
Ms Chipalila said the accident happened at Chileka on Mphamba Road.
The body is in Lundazi District Hospital mortuary while Mr Mbewe is detained at Lundazi Police Station.
