I WISH to commend the Under-16 Copa Coca-Cola team for putting up a spirited fight in the inaugural Copa Coca-Cola Africa Cup in Kenya last week.
Despite not winning the trophy, the team put up a spirited fight.
I wish to appeal to the Ministry of General Education and the Zambia Secondary Schools Sports Association (ZSSSA) to ensure that there is monitoring of the players who competed in Kenya.
These players should not only be monitored, but mentored, too, so that they graduate to the next level.
We should desist from abandoning the athletes after such a competition, only to remember them when the next edition is due.
The ZSSSA leadership should not slumber but start grooming the next intake so that there is continuity.
Congratulations Copa Coca-Cola team.
