Prepaid water meter.

HILDAH MWAPE, Lusaka
The Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company (LWSC) will this year instal 10,000 prepaid meters in the central business district, public relations officer Topsy Sikalinda has said.
Mr Sikalinda said in an interview yesterday that the second phase of the prepaid metering project will cover only Lusaka and it is a continuation of works which started last year.
“LWSC is still procuring prepaid meters so that the installation project can finish this year within Lusaka district,” Mr Sikalinda said.
He said the water utility has set a target to instal prepaid meters to 19,000 households and that it is determined to complete the project.
Mr Sikalinda said LWSC installed 20,000 prepaid meters in Kafue, Chongwe and Luangwa districts.
He said the first phase of the project in Lusaka only covered parts of Kabwata, Libala, Hill View, Mass Media and Emmasdale.
Mr Sikalinda appealed to business owners in the central business district to co-operate with LWSC during the second phase of the project.
