LuSE not for elite

THE Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE) has dispelled assertions that the local bourse is a capital market for the elite but for the general public looking to raise long-term finance.
Recent media reports suggest that ZAFFICO, which intends to list on the capital market in line with Government’s directive that all State-owned enterprises (SoEs) need to offload shares on LuSE, are unsubstantiated.
“A stock market, like any market, is a place open to everyone wishing to participate; the idea that it is exclusive to those with “special status” or means is simply erroneous,” LuSE chief executive officer Priscilla Sampa said in a statement yesterday.
