A LUSAKA businessman Ikrama Bux has commended President Lungu and his administration for prudently managing the economy in the last twelve months.
The country has recorded a major drop in the rate of inflation from the double digit of 21.8 percent in January to 7.5 percent this year.
Mr Bux, who is Time Time managing director also congratulated the Bank of Zambia for stabilising the exchange rate for over a year.
He said the trend has worked to the advantage of the business community in the transport and manufacturing sectors.
“President Lungu and his government have done a commendable job in keeping the Kwacha stable for over twelve months. This has helped in carrying out our business projects minus having to worry,” Mr Bux said.
He further appealed to the Minister of Finance Felix Mutati to maintain steady fiscal policies which have helped in stabilising the Kwacha against all major convertible currencies.
Mr Bux said the local manufacturing industry and the transport sector have had a positive steady growth in the last 12 months.
He said this when he presented mealie-meal and cooking oil to Heart of Mercy orphanage in Lusaka yesterday.
Mr Bux said his company has been compelled to plough back into the community after a successful year in business despite some challenges.
“We are glad to make this donation to Heart of Mercy. It is our pleasure to contribute to the lives of these little ones. Feel free to make requests in all your needs.” Mr Bux said.
Heart of Mercy founder Reverend Chongo Phiri, who received the donation, commended Time Time management for the gesture.
“We are humble and grateful. Looking after 300 children or more has been a calling from God and we are so delighted in uplifting the lives of the vulnerable children,” Reverend Phiri said.
