Lungu’s support for service wings hailed

DOREEN NAWA, Lusaka
PRESIDENT Lungu’s commitment to meeting the needs of military and security wing personnel must be commended, a member of the Patriotic Front (PF) has said.
The ruling party’s Information and Publicity committee member Benjamin Siwila has said it is shocking that some sectors of the media have been condemning President Lungu’s support for the defence force and other security wings.
Mr Siwila cited the recently initiated housing project for staff under home affairs as evidence that President Lungu is committed to improving the standards of living for this category of workers.
In a statement released yesterday, Mr Siwila said that President Lungu has also shown good will to men and women in uniform through his interactions during the 2015 annual ball events.
“Having a President who spares time for people is very rare and we have President Lungu as a blessing because he is always available for all Zambians,” he said.
Mr Siwila said the President has set a good example by making himself available and that this will help entrench peace and unity throughout Zambia.
He also urged Zambians to turn up in large numbers at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka on Tuesday when President Lungu signs the Constitution Bill into law.
Mr Siwila called on all opposition political parties to attend the historic event that is for the benefit of all Zambians.
