Lungu toasts Indian president’s election

KELVIN CHONGO, Lusaka
PRESIDENT Lungu has congratulated India’s President Ram Nath Kovind on his victory in an election held on July 17.
In his congratulatory message, the President said Mr Kovind’s victory is a manifestation of the confidence that the Indian Parliament has in his leadership and their desire for him to steer India to greater heights.

This is according to a statement issued yesterday by special assistant to the President for press and public relations Amos Chanda.
“I wish to extend our heartfelt congratulations on your electoral victory in the presidential elections on behalf of the government and people of Zambia,” he said.
President Lungu has also assured of the Zambian government’s commitment to working closely with the Indian government to further strengthen the long-standing bonds of friendship and co-operation between the two countries.
“Please accept, Your Excellency, my best wishes for your continued personal good health, success during your new tenure of office and prosperity of the people of the Republic of India,” President Lungu said.
