Lungu seeks closer Madagascar ties

President Edgar Lungu

ARTHUR MWANSA, Lusaka
PRESIDENT Lungu desires strengthened relations between Zambia and Madagascar to enhance both countries’ interests at bilateral and multilateral

levels.
He has also commended his Madagascar counterpart, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, for his commitment to steering the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) to a full regionally integrated and internationally competitive body.
President Lungu said this in a congratulatory message to Mr Rajaonarimampianina and the people of Madagascar on the island nation’s 57th independence anniversary.
In the message, delivered by Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa Emmanuel Mwamba, who is also accredited to Madagascar, President Lungu wishes Mr Rajaonarimampianina and Madagascans good health, peace and prosperity.
This is according to a statement issued yesterday by first secretary for press and public relations at the Zambian High Commission in South Africa Naomi Nyawali.
