Lundazi agric officers arrested over FISP

POLICE in Lundazi have arrested two Agriculture Camp Officers and six Camp Agriculture Committee members (CAC) for allegedly stealing farm inputs worth over K124,000 under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).
Eastern Province police deputy commissioner Sharon Zulu confirmed the arrest in Chipata yesterday.
Ms Zulu named the suspects from the Ministry of Agriculture as Alice Kagona, 29, an Agriculture camp officer at Mapala camp, and Stanley Kankungwa, 53, a block supervisor at Mapala camp.
She named the arrested CAC members as John Phiri, 28, of Kamelele village, Martha Ndolo, 38, of Wazama village, Martha Nyirenda, 35, of Mapala village, Ackim Nyirenda of Wazama village, Figi Lungu, 32, of Kapichila village and Kennedy Nyirenda Nyirongo, 48, of Kazumba village in Lundazi.
