PRESIDENT Lungu has renamed Luapula University after former President Frederick Chiluba.
Government has started the procurement process for the Luapula University project.
Speaking when he addressed scores of people at FTJ Primary School at Musangu village here yesterday, President Lungu said Dr Chiluba’s memory should be honoured because he greatly contributed to the re-introduction of democracy in Zambia.
Mr Lungu said the construction of the FTJ University will commence as soon as the procurement process is done.
“The late president played a major role in the country’s democratic process, hence the need to honour him,” President Lungu said.
He said without Dr Chiluba, Zambia would not have been a democracy, which has led to the formation of many political parties.
“We need to respect him as the father of democracy,” he said. READ MORE
