GOVERNMENT is next year expected to provide two water buses with 120-passenger capacity in Luapula Province to offer efficient and safe mode of movement on water.
The two water buses will be run by state-run boards, Mweru Water Transport Board and Bangweulu Water Transport Board, as part of Government’s commitment to revamp the water transportation system.
Minister of Transport and Communications Brian Mushimba said Government will improve navigability and transportation in economically depressed areas where people are dependant on water as the only mode of transport.
Mr Mushimba said this when he inspected maritime infrastructure projects on lakes Bangweulu and Mweru in Luapula Province recently.
