THE Indaba Agricultural Policy and Research Institute (IAPRI) has called on Government to consider undertaking livestock restocking in areas which were affected by diseases to sustain the industry.
IAPRI notes that there is need to increase budget allocation and actual release of funds targeted at the sector for successful implementation of the livestock restocking exercise.
According to IAPRI’s publication on Beef Value Chain in Zambia: Challenges and Opportunities of Linking Smallholder Farmers to Markets, disease outbreak continues to be among the major challenges that has led to under-investments in the livestock and cattle supply chain.
