Lightning kills 2 in Nchelenge

A TEENAGER and a 65-year-old man of Yenga village in Chief Kambwali’s area in Nchelenge have died after being struck by lightning in separate incidents.
Luapula Province commissioner of police Malcolm Mulenga said the houses of the victims were burnt to ashes in a fire ignited by the lightning.
Mr Mulenga said the incidents happened on Thursday around 06:00 hours and 06:30 hours, respectively.
“The houses they were in burnt to ashes and the bodies of both victims were buried immediately,” Mr Mulenga said.
He named the deceased as Goliath Konkola, 16, and Leonard Chungu, both of Yenga village in Chief Kambwali’s area.
“Mr Chungu was rescued from his house but he died of shock,” Mr Mulenga said.
