Kitwe bus fares increased

BUS operators in Kitwe have adjusted bus fares for local routes by K1 following an adjustment in the pump prices of fuel.
Commuters will now be paying K4 on all the routes within the district from K3.
The increment has already been effected although it has been received with mixed feelings.
Mary Bwembya, a resident of Ndeke township, has urged Government to intervene in the matter.
Kitwe District Bus Association (KDBA) committee member Lloyd Bwalya said the increase in bus fares has been necessitated by the upward adjustment in fuel prices.
On Tuesday last week, the Road Transport and Safety Agency warned that bus operators risked having their licences suspended or revoked if they increased bus fares without following the laid down procedure.
