CHILDREN display their modeling skills at last year’s carnival.

THE fourth edition of the annual Baby and Kids Expo is once again set to take centre stage at Lusaka’s East Park Mall today with great activities such as spelling competitions, talent shows, fashion shows and the mother’s challenge, all lined-up.
With last year’s event having been a larger-than-life affair, today’s event is expected to take the same face with the organisers projecting 8000 people to attend as 120 children display various skills and talents.
Pink Diamonds and Zed Connections, the organisers of the event, told the Weekend Mail in Lusaka that everything is in place for the event to be graced by minister of Sport, Youth and Children Development Vincent Mwale.
Sphiwe Benasho, the chief executive officer of Pink Diamonds, says apart from the carnival providing entertainment, this year’s kids expo will also be a platform to build and bring out self confidence in children.
She says in the past years, the shows have recorded an amazing growth, a scenario that has made them to think of extending it to the Copperbelt and the tourist capital of Livingstone.
“This is an amazing and unique outdoor event for the children. This year we expect much more on offer than in previous years because from the list of companies registered to partner with us this year, it’s a very encouraging sign,” Jack Shangola, the director of Zed Connections, says.
The partners are MultiChoice Zambia, Zanaco, Cavmont Bank, Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) among others.
So, apart from the various talents the kids will display, there will be a ‘MultiChoice Tailored Talent Show’, ‘RTSA Child Road Safety Quiz’, ‘Cavmont Imiti Ikula Fashion Show’, and free medical check-ups.
Trade Kings will also have on display a spin-and-win wheel for the lucky children, while Zanaco will have a spelling competition.
There are some go back to school prizes to be won.
