Kawambwa man nabbed for defilement

POLICE in Kawambwa have arrested a 20-year-old man of Zambezi village in Chief Munkanta’s area in Kawambwa for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl.
Luapula Province commissioner of police Malcolm Mulenga said yesterday that the incident happened on Tuesday and the matter was reported to police by the girl’s father.
Mr Mulenga identified the suspect as Pethius Musonda.
“We have arrested Musonda for alleged defilement after the matter was reported to the police by the victim ,’’ Mr Mulenga said.
Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man of Mwense has been electrocuted after getting into contact with a 33 kilovolt (KV) electricity line that got cut after heavy rains.
Mr Mulenga identified the deceased as Albert Mukobe and that the matter was reported to police by Longwani Mukonga, 42.
He said Mr Mukobe sustained burns on the face and legs.
Mr Mukobe later died at Mansa General Hospital and the body is in the mortuary at the same hospital.
