A US$50 million plant to make mill balls for the mining industry has been set up in the Kalumbila Multi-Facility Economic Zone with over 200 jobs created.
The project, whose capacity is 100,000 tonnes of high quality balls per year is a joint venture between ME Elecmetal, a Chilean company and Changshu Lonteng and Melt China, both Chinese companies.
Commissioning the project on Wednesday, Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Christopher Yaluma said the project supports Government policy of value addition to natural resources and will enhance economic growth and create jobs.
Mill balls are used for crushing copper ore to secondary or tertiary level.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
