Kabwe seeks vendors’ street

Kabwe town

THE Kabwe Municipal Council is in the process of identifying a street within the central business district (CBD) where all vendors will be relocated.

Kabwe mayor Prince Chileshe said in an interview yesterday that when relocated, the vendors will only be allowed to conduct their businesses between 16:00 hours and 20:00 hours.
Mr Chileshe also said the local authority is encouraging the traders to relocate to markets because there is adequate space for trading there.
“Our CBD has become very congested, and people are trading anywhere, this is not safe. This decision is meant to protect the lives of people trading on streets and it is a safety measure,” he said.
Mr Chileshe also said the council is disappointed that traders in markets have stopped paying daily levies.
