K5m community projects start

MUNIDE ZULU, Lusaka
GOVERNMNET has launched the construction of community projects to be implemented in five districts of the country at a total cost of K5,591,000.
Speaking during the launch in Chibombo district, Ministry of Education, Science, Vocational Training, and Early Education deputy permanent secretary Christine Mayondi said Government is happy that the project will benefit 50,000 pupils in Chibombo, Mkushi, Mpika, Kasama and Mungwi.
The launch, themed ‘enhancing quality of education through community schools’, started in November 2014 and will end in October 2017.
Ms Mayondi said the project, co-funded by European Union, Fundcion Pueblo Pare Pueblo and DAPP, will enhance quality education in community schools.
Ms Mayondi said Government will ensure that community schools have proper infrastructure and quality teachers in order to further enhance the quality of education in community schools.
She also said pupil enrolment in primary schools doubled from 1.6 million in 2000 to 3.2 million in 2014 because various primary schools were constructed by Government.
