MANYINGA district council in North-Western Province has set aside K500,000 for construction of a modern market in the district.

Council chairman Davinnox Chikuta said in an interview yesterday that the funds for the project have already been secured and works are expected to start soon.
Mr Chikuta said the site where the new market will be constructed has already been identified.
He said the scope of works for the new market will include the construction of stands, a storeroom, and that the market will also house some financial institutions to ease the cost of doing business.
Mr Chikuta said the construction of the new market is expected to start once the contractor is identified. The project is expected to be completed by December this year.
“We have allocated K500,000 towards the construction of a modern market and the funds are already in the bank. We are hoping by December, we will actually complete this infrastructure,” he said.
Mr Chikuta said once completed, the new market will enable the council relocate all the traders that have erected makeshift stalls along the road to bring sanity to the area.
