K30m raised from maize sale – ZAMACE


THE Zambia Commodity Exchange (ZAMACE) Limited has raised over K30 million from the sale of maize since last year.
About 15,600 tonnes of maize have been sold on the platform between 2017 and 2018 to a tune of K32 million.
ZAMACE Limited executive director Jacob Mwale said the exchange has over 23,200 tonnes of white maize grain for sale at the moment.
“In 2017, we sold 12,600 tonnes of maize valued at K27 million and this year, we have so far sold 3,000 tonnes worth K5 million.
“In addition, farmers can sell their soya beans and other grains via the commodity exchange,” Mr Mwale said in an interview on Sunday.
