Janza picks COSAFA squad

VICTOR KUMWENDA, Lusaka
ZAMBIA coach Honour Janza has named a 26-member squad comprising three South Africa-based players that include goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene for the 2015 Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Senior Challenge Cup.
And the Chipolopolo will face Namibia in the preliminary round of the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.
The COSAFA Senior Challenge Cup is slated for May 19-31 in North-Western Province, South Africa.
The other South Africa-based players summoned for the regional event are Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder Mukuka Mulenga and striker Bornwell Mwape of AmaZulu.
Mwape was a member of the Chipolopolo squad that beat Rwanda 2-0 in an international friendly on April 29 at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
Janza has also handed call-ups to forward Jimmy Ndhlovu and midfielder Shadreck Musonda of Power Dynamos and Nkana, respectively.
The provisional squad also includes under-20 trio of midfielder Larry Bwalya and defenders Boyd Mkandawire and Kayawe Kapota.
Mkandawire made his debut for the senior national team in last month’s friendly against Rwanda.

According to the draws conducted at Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, Zambia will be away in the first leg set for the weekend of June 19-21.
