Janza aims at COSAFA Cup

ELIZABETH CHATUVELA, Lusaka
NATIONAL team coach Honour Janza is upbeat the Chipolopolo will perform to expectation at next month’s Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Senior Challenge Cup
Janza said in Lusaka on Saturday that the Chipolopolo will strive to defend the COSAFA title.
He said there is need to build on the 2-0 win over Rwanda in an international friendly at Lusaka’s National Heroes Stadium on March 29.
The regional event that will run from May 17-30 in South Africa will see Zambia entering at the quarter-final stage.
“Most of the players that have been called for the COSAFA were at the Africa Cup and later played in the international friendly match. So we just have to build on that performance and do better,” Janza said.
And Janza is worried that Chipolopolo goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene is having little game time at South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.
He is keeping an eye on Mweene’s situation.
He, however, said Mweene still has a lot to offer to the Chipolopolo.
Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has roped in Ugandan Dennis Onyango as his first-choice custodian.
