James Sakala and JJ drop ‘listen to me’

AFRO Jazz artiste, James Sakala, has released a new single prior to the launch of his first album, Insale.
The song is a collaboration between James and Jeromeo JJ from Zimbabwe who took part in last year’s Season 9 Big Brother Africa (BBA) Hotshots edition.
James and JJ, co- wrote the song in Bemba, English and French.
The Zimbabwean artiste, JJ, first met James when he visited Zambia following the conclusion of BBA Season 9 last year.
After seeing James on guitar, JJ proposed they work together on a song.
This idea led to the birth of the love song Listen to Me. In it, James and JJ get sentimental as they share appreciation for the goodness and beauty of a special lady.
James, however, said that the single would not feature on his debut album which is scheduled for release later this year.
“This is just a single that has been dropped for airplay,” James clarified in an interview. “It won’t be on my forthcoming album.”
James, who plays guitar and percussion instruments, is also a member of the Elect Band which has been nominated in the Best Band category at this year’s Zambian Music Awards (ZMAs).
James’ performance at last year’s Stanbic Jazz Music Festival in Lusaka was so impressive that it won the heart of Zimbabwean music legend, Oliver Mtukudzi.
Additionally, James stated he will be releasing another single in two weeks’ time which will feature on his debut album.
The recording of James’ first album, Insale, produced by Ben Blazer, is now complete and the album is presently being mixed and mastered.
James was also recently named a 2015 Proflight brand ambassador along with four other artistes who include hip hop artiste, Chef 187 and rapper, Cleo Ice Queen.
